About Supersized

Supersized is an open-source jQuery plugin that enables full-screen background slideshows on websites. It allows web designers to display large images or videos as full-page backgrounds that scale to fit any screen resolution, with optional transition effects and navigation controls.

Supersized was popular in the early 2010s when full-screen background design trends were prominent in creative agency and portfolio websites. The plugin supports both image and video backgrounds, automatic cycling, and keyboard navigation. While largely superseded by native CSS techniques and modern JavaScript solutions, Supersized remains in use on legacy sites and is referenced in web design archives as an influential early tool for immersive background presentation.
