The country column on this page is a trap for the unwary. 3,361,628 of the sites we attribute to Hostinger resolve to Cyprus, which is neither where most of the customers live nor where the company grew up. Shared hosting geography records the address space a provider was allocated and the corporate entity holding it, and a budget host sells the same control panel into dozens of markets from a handful of facilities. Anyone mapping demand from a hosting row will draw the wrong map.

What the row does tell you is tenancy, and tenancy at this end of the market has a consistent profile. A site here is one tenant among many on a shared platform chosen mainly on price, which selects strongly for small businesses, personal projects, freelance built brochure sites and a long tail of domains registered with enthusiasm and abandoned quietly. Trading since 2004 under Hostinger International and sold as Proprietary software, the platform has accumulated a customer base wide enough that its composition is a reasonable sample of the low cost end of the web.

Buyers of that sample cluster into a few groups. Competing hosts and site builders run win back and migration campaigns and need to know who to approach. Agencies and plugin vendors want owners of small sites who are underserved by their current stack. Security researchers care about shared address ranges, because neighbour risk, blocklist contagion and abuse clustering are properties of the range rather than of any individual site sitting inside it.

A reverse lookup on a single address will show you the neighbours on one machine, which is a fine way to answer a narrow question. The dataset answers the wide one. Every domain we attribute to the provider, across all of its ranges, with the country and suffix of each domain and the rest of the stack detected alongside it, in a file you can filter and join. Reproducing that means crawling and resolving the registered namespace, then keeping the mapping current as ranges are reassigned.

The undercount here is specific and worth naming. When a site puts a proxy or delivery network in front of its origin, the hosting fingerprint disappears, and customers at this price point adopt free proxy tiers readily, so a meaningful share of the real customer base is invisible to us. White label resellers add another layer, since a site sold under someone else's brand still lands on the same infrastructure. And a hosting record says nothing about whether the site is maintained, staffed or trading.

Used carefully the row is a good qualifier and a poor headline. As of September 2026 we see the platform on 10,777,666 sites, and the figure should be read as visible tenancy at a point in time rather than as a company reported customer number, which counts accounts, includes products that never touch the web and will always be larger. Set beside the content management system, ecommerce and country columns, the same row becomes something more useful: a way to describe an entire segment of the small business web, watch how it moves between snapshots, and decide whether the part of it you can actually reach is worth the campaign.
