Most detections describe a website. A help desk platform describes a payroll. Nobody licenses per agent support software unless there are agents, which makes Zendesk one of the more informative firmographic signals available from the outside of a domain, and a good deal more informative than most of what sits beside it in a technology profile.

The platform is a Proprietary product from Zendesk, in the market since 2007, covering ticketing, an omnichannel inbox, help centre publishing, automation and reporting. Adoption tends to follow a moment in a company's life rather than a technical requirement. A shared mailbox works until volume outgrows it, and the switch to a ticketing system is the point at which support becomes a function with owners, queues and measurement instead of a task somebody picks up between other work.

That transition is what the detection is really marking. As of September 2026 we find it on 184,886 sites, with 113,246 attributed to United States and .com leading the domain endings. Concentration reflects both the vendor's home market and the way the sites themselves are registered, and it fits a product sold largely to companies that have already crossed the threshold into staffed customer operations.

Commercially, the population reads as a filter for operational maturity. A competing help desk vendor uses it as a displacement list where the buying decision has already been made once and the budget line exists. Integration and app vendors use it because a support platform is a hub other tools plug into, from telephony to survey tools to knowledge management. Sales teams selling anything priced by headcount use it as a proxy for company size that does not depend on self reported employee counts. Investors and procurement teams use it when they want to know what an acquisition target or supplier actually runs behind its brochure pages.

Honesty about the limits keeps the signal usable. We detect the platform through the web widget or through help centre pages served under a domain, so a company using it purely for email ticketing, with no public widget and no public knowledge base, leaves nothing for a crawler to find. The help centre also frequently lives on a subdomain, so the marker may attach to a support host rather than the main marketing site, and consent tooling that defers third party widgets can hide the payload during a crawl. The population is a floor, weighted towards companies that chose to expose self service publicly.

A single domain check answers whether one company uses the platform, and a browser can usually answer that too. The downloadable population answers what a lookup cannot, namely how large the installed base is, which countries and domain endings it concentrates in, what commerce, analytics and communication tools travel alongside it, and which sites appeared or disappeared between two releases. Movement in that last column is the interesting part, because a support platform changing hands is a rare, deliberate and expensive event, and seeing it happen across a market requires the whole set rather than a sample.
