Oman's country code top-level domain, .om, represents the Sultanate of Oman, a nation on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula known for its rich history, diverse landscapes, and significant oil and gas reserves. Oman has invested substantially in digital infrastructure and e-government initiatives as part of its Vision 2040 plan to diversify the economy beyond petroleum. The .om ccTLD is managed by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman.
The .om domain was delegated in 1996 and registration is available to Omani businesses and individuals as well as foreign entities with a legitimate presence in or connection to the country. The domain is used by government ministries, state enterprises, private businesses, and educational institutions. Registration requirements include local contact information, and the TRA actively manages the namespace to ensure quality and prevent abuse.
