Nobody buys a landing page builder to improve their website. A team pays for Unbounce because the campaign pages it needs cannot wait for the engineering backlog, and a subscription only makes sense when those campaigns run often enough, and are worth enough, to justify the line item. The detection describes a marketing department rather than a site.

Unbounce has been selling that promise since 2009 under a Proprietary subscription rather than an open license, and the product has grown from single pages into pop-ups, sticky bars and automated routing of visitors between variants. Adoption therefore carries a second signal beyond spend. A team running variant tests has accepted that page performance is measurable and worth optimizing, which is not true of every company with a website.
