The label on this entry is older than the product it describes. Adobe bought the service and eventually renamed it, but the original name survives in embed code, in documentation, in theme settings and in the habits of the people who set these sites up, which is why a detection dataset still carries it under the name the market learned first. Fingerprints outlive rebrands, and anyone matching our rows against a vendor's current marketing pages should expect the vocabulary to differ.

What the fingerprint actually indicates is an account relationship with a design software vendor. A hosted Font scripts is not a file on a server. Typefaces are licensed rather than owned, delivery runs through the vendor's own network, and the entitlement is attached to an account with the vendor, often a creative subscription somebody in the organisation already holds. So the presence of the embed says more about the people who built the site than about the site's code. Somebody had a brand specification, somebody picked type deliberately, and somebody had access to professional design tooling. Sites that were assembled from a free template and never art directed rarely end up here.

That makes the footprint a proxy for design investment, which is a genuinely difficult thing to measure at scale from the outside. As of September 2026 we detect it on 1,251,018 sites, a population that has been accumulating since 2009, when web typography was still an unsolved problem and a subscription service was the practical way to use real typefaces in a browser. A Proprietary arrangement means every one of those sites represents an active or lapsed account with the vendor rather than a copied file, so the list maps an account base rather than a habit.

The geography reflects the agency and in-house design market rather than the web at large. The country we record most often is United States at 1,017,581, with .com the suffix we see most often, which is the distribution you would predict for a tool sold through creative subscriptions into professional studios and marketing departments.

Detection limits deserve to be stated rather than buried. Attribution comes from the embed script, the stylesheet reference and the vendor hostnames a page calls, all of which are visible in a normal fetch and all of which vanish when a team self hosts the font files under its own domain, moves loading behind a tag manager path we do not attribute, or serves fonts only on pages our crawl never reaches. Deliberate migration away from hosted delivery, which performance work often recommends, therefore looks identical to abandoning the vendor entirely. Read the total as a floor, and read a drop across crawls as a change in delivery method until something else confirms otherwise.

The value of the export follows from what the signal means. Selling to marketing teams, design studios or brand focused businesses is a targeting problem, and firmographic databases describe companies rather than the way their sites are built. Starting from a typography service and returning the sites, joined to country, suffix, content management system and the rest of the stack, produces a list of organisations that demonstrably invest in presentation. A per-domain check confirms one guess. The file supplies the population, including the businesses you had no reason to guess about in the first place.
