Sapper is a framework for building web applications using Svelte. Developed by the Svelte core team, Sapper provided server-side rendering, file-based routing, and code splitting for Svelte-based projects. It was designed to make it easier to build high-performance web applications with minimal boilerplate while leveraging Svelte's compiled component model.

Sapper has since been superseded by SvelteKit, which became the official framework for building Svelte applications. Despite this, a number of websites built with Sapper remain in production, particularly those created between 2019 and 2021. Detection of Sapper typically indicates an older Svelte-based project that has not yet migrated to SvelteKit.
