Sobre Sapper
Os responsáveis pela manutenção de Sapper são as pessoas que disseram a toda a gente para deixar de o usar. Construído pela equipa de Svelte como o framework que deu aos projetos Svelte renderização no servidor, encaminhamento baseado em ficheiros e divisão de código, o Sapper foi substituído pelo SvelteKit, que passou a ser a forma oficial de construir este tipo de aplicações. Já não há nada de novo a começar nele.
Um framework sem instalações novas tem uma propriedade que os ativos não têm. Todos os sites que o executam foram construídos antes do sucessor existir, e todos os sites que ainda o executam escolheram, ativamente ou por negligência, não migrar. Daí decorrem três leituras da lista. As equipas de auditoria interessam-se porque um projeto com licença MIT que não recebe mais versões também não recebe correções de segurança, e encontrar dependências por corrigir é um trabalho que precisa do conjunto inteiro e não de um exemplo. As agências interessam-se por razões comerciais, porque uma base de código com um problema de envelhecimento conhecido e um destino conhecido é a proposta de migração mais limpa que existe, e os próprios responsáveis pelo framework já apresentaram o argumento por elas. Os investigadores interessam-se pela taxa em si, pela velocidade a que uma comunidade se move de facto quando os seus responsáveis declaram um sucessor, o que é uma pergunta sobre uma população inteira e não pode ser respondida um domínio de cada vez. Lançado em 2017, o Sapper funciona hoje sobretudo como marcador do momento em que uma base de código foi escrita e de há quanto tempo ninguém lhe mexe.
