About Asgaros Forum
Asgaros Forum is not what a site is built on. The plugin is what an owner adds when a site stops being a broadcast and starts being a place where readers talk back. Bolting a discussion forum onto an existing blog or membership site is a deliberate step with consequences: registered users, moderation duties, spam, email notifications and a legal position on content other people wrote.
The presence of a forum therefore narrows a population sharply. A site running one has recurring visitors rather than search traffic passing through, probably has accounts and possibly paid memberships, and has somebody spending time on moderation. Companies selling anti-spam services, moderation tooling, community platforms, single sign-on and email delivery are all looking for exactly this segment, and so are researchers studying where public discussion happens outside the large social platforms.
Choosing a plugin rather than standalone forum software is informative in itself. A lightweight PHP plugin living inside the existing site keeps one user table, one theme and one hosting bill, which is the choice of a small operator with no platform team. Larger communities migrate to dedicated forum software, so a plugin detection points at the smaller end of the community web. The software is GPL v2 and has been developed openly since 2014, so it costs nothing to try, and free plugins accumulate installs that were switched on once and never removed.

A downloadable list tells you how many community sites of this shape exist, what else they run, which languages and country domains they sit in, and which of them added or dropped the plugin between exports.
Two limits are worth saying plainly. A plugin is detected when it leaves something recognisable in the page, so a forum behind a members-only login can escape a crawler entirely, and an installed but deactivated plugin leaves nothing at all to find. The count also says nothing about activity, because a dead forum and a thriving one look identical from outside, which is why the list works as a starting set for qualification rather than as a ranking of communities.
