Akismet is a widely used spam filtering service developed by Automattic, the company behind WordPress. It automatically checks comments, contact form submissions, and other user-generated content against a global database of spam patterns to block unwanted content.

Akismet is bundled with every WordPress installation and has filtered hundreds of billions of spam submissions. It uses machine learning trained on data from millions of websites to improve accuracy over time. While it is free for personal use, commercial sites require a paid subscription. Akismet is also available as a plugin or API for non-WordPress platforms, making it a versatile anti-spam solution.
