About OVHcloud

Hosting is one of the few entries in a technology profile that the person who built the site did not necessarily choose. A developer picks a framework. A marketer picks an analytics tag. The hosting line records a commercial relationship, often signed by somebody else, sometimes inherited from an agency that has long since moved on. Reading OVHcloud in the Hosting column tells you where a site physically answers from, and that fact tends to outlive the design, the content management system and the company's own staff.

As of September 2026 we detect OVHcloud on 3,503,219 sites, and 2,916,963 of those resolve to France. The gap between the two figures is the interesting part. A provider operating since 1999 that sells into North America, Asia and Latin America still carries a footprint weighted toward its home market, because customers who buy bare metal and virtual servers buy near their users and near their own accountants. .com remains the common suffix even inside that national concentration, which is a useful reminder that a domain ending says very little about where the machine sits.

For anyone selling infrastructure, hosting concentration is the difference between a mailing list and a market map. A reseller hunting migration candidates wants sites already comfortable with European billing and European data residency. A security team tracing an abuse cluster wants every site answering from the same address space, not the single domain that raised the alert. An analyst pricing a competing offer wants to know whether the customer base leans toward small business domains or toward long tail personal projects, and the suffix mix begins to answer that.

Hosting attribution is inferential and deserves to be read that way. We resolve a provider from address allocation, network ownership and response behaviour, which works well when a server answers directly and much less well when it does not. A site sitting behind a reverse proxy or a content delivery network will usually be attributed to the proxy, because the proxy is what the rest of the internet actually talks to. White label resellers, shared plans and hosting brands that run on rented capacity blur the boundary further. The result is a systematic undercount rather than a random one, and the sites we miss are disproportionately the larger and better defended ones.

A per-domain lookup answers a question you already had. You type in a domain, you get its provider, and you learn nothing at all about the population that domain belongs to. A downloadable list inverts the query. Instead of asking which provider serves this site, you ask which sites this provider serves, then cut that population by country, by suffix, by the other software detected on the same page. The second question is what supports territory planning, churn modelling, partner recruitment and competitive displacement, and it cannot be assembled one lookup at a time at any sensible cost.

The OVHcloud rows in our export carry the domain, the country we resolved for it, the suffix and the rest of the detected stack for that same site, refreshed on the schedule shown beside this page. A provider that has been signing customers for as long as this one accumulates a base with visible geological layers, older domains running older software next to recent arrivals, and an export is where those layers become countable instead of anecdotal. Filter the list down to a single market and you are looking at a competitor's customer roster. Filter it by the applications running on top and you are looking at a shortlist of the ones worth calling.
