About Mailman
Mailman is a free, open-source software application for managing electronic mailing lists. Developed by the GNU Project, it allows organizations to create, administer, and operate email discussion lists and newsletters with ease. Mailman handles subscriber management, bounce processing, archiving, and spam filtering.
Widely used by universities, open-source projects, and nonprofits, Mailman has been a foundational tool for internet communities since the late 1990s. It integrates with standard mail transfer agents such as Postfix and Sendmail, and provides both a web-based administrative interface and command-line management tools. The latest major version, Mailman 3, introduced a modular architecture with REST API support.
