Embedly is a content embedding and link preview service that enables websites and applications to display rich media previews from thousands of third-party sources including YouTube, Twitter, and news sites. By simply passing a URL to the Embedly API, developers can retrieve metadata, thumbnails, and embeddable HTML for any supported content type.

Embedly was acquired by Medium in 2016 and is widely used by publishers, social platforms, and content management systems to enrich user-generated content with automatic link previews and media cards. It reduces the development effort needed to support multiple media types and content sources, and is particularly popular in comment systems, blogging platforms, and social news applications.
