About Draft.js
Rich text editing in a browser is one of those problems that looks solved from the outside and is not. Draft.js was Meta's answer to it, a JavaScript framework released in 2016 that handed React applications a controlled, immutable model of editor state instead of leaving developers to wrestle with a contenteditable element directly. Comment boxes, post composers, internal publishing screens and note-taking interfaces were the intended targets.
The framework is MIT, which is the licence most teams stop reading at, and it spread the way infrastructure spreads. Pulled in as a dependency of something else, wrapped in an in-house component, and then left alone for years, because rewriting a text editor is nobody's favourite quarter. Meta has since put its weight behind a newer editor project, which leaves Draft.js in the familiar position of a library that is depended upon more than it is maintained.
Which is where the count needs care. As of October 2026 we detect Draft.js on 2 sites. A bundled JavaScript library is close to invisible to any external scan, because build tooling renames internals, merges everything into one file and strips exactly the strings a fingerprint looks for. Detection only works when something leaks: a recognisable class name, an unminified vendor bundle, a source map left in place, a global attached to the window object. Our figure is therefore a floor set by how carelessly a site was assembled, not a measure of how many sites use the library.
Version data behaves the same way and deserves to be read in that light. A pinned version string usually means the dependency was installed once and never revisited, which is ordinary practice for an editor and a real consideration for anyone auditing what a site actually ships.

Which sites still ship a React editor framework that is no longer the vendor's recommended path, which of those are commercial products where a migration budget might plausibly exist, and what else sits on the same pages.
