The product predates social media, marketing automation and most of the categories that were supposed to replace email, and many of the customers still on it have been sending campaigns from the same account for a decade or more.

An Email tag is a commercial signal before it is a technical one. A site carrying one is collecting addresses and someone is paying every month to mail them, which implies a marketing budget, a list, and a person responsible for both. Constant Contact narrows the picture further, because Constant Contact sells to small businesses, local service companies, churches, schools and non-profits rather than to enterprise growth teams. A customer who uses the platform purely to mail a list gathered offline, or who runs signups only on landing pages hosted under the vendor's own domain, leaves no trace on their own website. The undercount is not random. The gap falls hardest on exactly the least web-centric customers, which for this product is a large group, so the list should be read as the subset of customers who put the platform on their site rather than as a customer roster.

Competing email platforms use a list like this the way a sales team uses a territory map, because a site running a tool from an earlier era is a migration conversation waiting to happen. Agencies use it to find owners who already believe in email and are underserving it. Data enrichment providers use it as one attribute among many, since a paid marketing subscription separates an active business from a parked domain more reliably than most signals do.
