About sNews

A complete content management system that arrived as a small bundle of PHP files, with no framework beneath it and no build step to feed, was an ordinary thing to ship in 2005. Shared hosting was the deployment target, and the virtue that sold a CMS was how little of the server it asked for. sNews belongs to that generation of publishing tools, and the sites still running it tend to be the ones that never needed anything more.

As of October 2026 we detect sNews on 56 sites, which places it in the long tail of CMS choices rather than anywhere near the platforms that shape the market.
