About JANet

Some entries in a technology catalogue are best introduced with a warning, and JANet is one of them. The name is short, generic and shared by more than one unrelated product. The older description attached to our record talks about a networking framework built in Java, while the website recorded against the same entry sits on a Japanese domain and belongs to a commercial service. We are not going to pick one of those stories and present it confidently. What our record supports is that a fingerprint associated with the name matches on a set of sites, and that the catalogue files the entry under Affiliate programs because no narrower classification fits.

As of October 2026 we detect JANet on 237 sites. The figure counts fingerprint matches, not confirmed installations of a particular company's product, and where a name is ambiguous the matches should be treated as a starting point for investigation rather than as a finished answer. Anyone building on the entry should look at the detected domains before drawing a conclusion about which product they are actually seeing.

The ambiguity is a reason to want the list, not a reason to distrust it. The detected domains carry their own evidence. Their top level domains, their languages, the other technologies on the same pages and the way those pages are built will split the population into groups far more reliably than a shared name ever could, and the split becomes visible as soon as every match sits in one file with the rest of each site's stack beside it. A per domain lookup gives you one ambiguous yes and none of the context that resolves the ambiguity.
