About Enable

Enable is a website accessibility widget rather than a system a business runs behind its own login. A site owner pastes one line of script into the page head and a floating button appears across the site, opening a menu a visitor uses to adjust the page for themselves: keyboard navigation, high contrast and monochrome modes, inverted colours, a larger cursor, a readable typeface and resized text. Nothing is installed, so it works on any platform that allows a script tag. Dated in our records to 2016 and sold as Proprietary software by Enable, it sits in front of the visitor rather than behind the business.

Front of house software raises a different question from back office software: not whether it will appear in a web technology dataset, but how much the appearance tells you. The script is fetched from the vendor's own domain on every page of a customer site, so detection needs no inference and no login. Anyone studying how smaller operators respond to accessibility obligations gets a population they can measure between refreshes instead of a handful of named reference customers.

A per domain check tells you whether a single site carries the widget. The extract tells you how large the detected footprint is, which domains and subdomains carry it, what else runs beside it, and which entries look solid enough to trust. With an ambiguous brand name the value of a full list is precisely that the ambiguity can be filtered in bulk, which is impossible when answers arrive one domain at a time.
