About BySide
Halfway through an insurance quote or a mortgage application, a visitor stalls, and the moment is worth real money to the business on the other side of the screen. Engagement tooling exists for exactly that pause. Software of this kind watches behaviour on the page and offers a live agent, a callback or a shared screen at the point where the visitor would otherwise close the tab, and BySide belongs to that family.
Detection follows from how such tools are delivered. The product runs as JavaScript loaded into the page, so our crawler sees what a browser sees, and a match means the tag was present on the page we fetched. Absence is much weaker evidence than presence, because engagement widgets are often loaded only on selected pages, only for selected visitor segments, or only during staffed hours. A bank or a retailer can be a paying customer and still show us a clean home page.
The record around the product is thin but consistent. CoreMedia is the vendor, the license is Proprietary, and the product dates from 2007, which makes it a survivor of the first wave of live chat and co-browsing tools rather than a recent arrival.
