Nginx (ausgesprochen "engine-x") ist ein leistungsstarker Open-Source-Webserver, Reverse-Proxy, Load Balancer und HTTP-Cache, der ursprünglich von Igor Sysoev entwickelt und 2004 erstmals veröffentlicht wurde. Nginx wurde für die Bewältigung hoher Nebenläufigkeit bei geringem Speicherverbrauch konzipiert und verwendet eine asynchrone, ereignisgesteuerte Architektur, die traditionelle thread-basierte Server unter hoher Last übertrifft.
