About the Qatar web market
Qatar has one of the highest internet penetration rates in the world, underpinned by world-class telecommunications infrastructure and significant government investment in digital transformation. The country's Vision 2030 development plan places technology and digital economy at its core, driving rapid adoption of cloud services, e-government platforms, and smart city initiatives. Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup 2022, which accelerated digital infrastructure development, including 5G network rollout and expanded data center capacity.
The .qa ccTLD is managed by ictQATAR (now part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology) and is used by government agencies, corporations, and educational institutions. Ooredoo, Qatar's dominant telecom operator, plays a central role in providing internet connectivity across the country.
