About Yodel

Yodel needs a caveat before it needs a description. The name is shared by more than one company, and the record we hold does not settle which one any given detection belongs to. A parcel and delivery business trades under the same name as a business communications product, and organisations of both kinds place code on other people's websites. What our figure counts is a fingerprint match, not a confirmed vendor relationship, so the right way to read these rows is as a starting point for verification rather than as a finished answer.

We classify the fingerprint under Shipping carriers, which reflects where the matched code appears on a page rather than a judgement about the corporate entity behind it. Code in that category normally loads a widget: a chat launcher, a call button, a contact panel that connects a visitor to somebody who answers. The vendor field records Yodel and the licence is Proprietary, meaning the code is served from a commercial platform rather than installed from an open repository, which at least narrows the population to sites with a paid relationship somewhere behind the script.

As of October 2026 the fingerprint appears on 79 sites. A count without a confirmed vendor is still useful as long as nobody pretends otherwise. The list gives every domain where the pattern occurs, which is exactly what a researcher needs in order to sample a few dozen of them by hand and work out what the fingerprint actually identifies. A per-domain lookup cannot do that work, because one ambiguous answer stays ambiguous, while a full population can be sorted, sampled and resolved.

Fields we do not hold for this technology are left empty rather than filled with a plausible guess, which is why there is no first release year, no implementation language and no country breakdown on this page.
