About VAPTCHA

Bot defence is a purchase a site owner makes once and then forgets about, which makes it an unusually honest signal of who a site expects to be attacked by. VAPTCHA sits in the Security category and works by watching how a visitor moves rather than by asking anyone to read distorted characters. The challenge is a gesture, a slide or a drawn shape, and the verdict comes from the behaviour rather than from the answer.

As of October 2026 we detect the service on 38 sites, and in every case the installation was deliberate. A verification widget is not bundled by a hosting provider and not inherited from a theme. Somebody added it to a login form, a registration page or a checkout because that form was being abused. Every domain on the list is therefore a site with a form worth attacking, which is a much narrower and more useful population than a list of sites that merely have logins.

Version reporting for this product is close to useless as a signal, and our record shows why. The only version value we have ever recorded for it is 3. A hosted verification service upgrades on the vendor's schedule, and the number carried in an embed script marks the generation of the API rather than a build a customer chose to install, so nobody should read the version field here as evidence of an upgrade cycle or of a patching culture.

For a vendor selling anti fraud, account takeover protection or identity verification, the domain list is a set of buyers who have already accepted that abuse is a line item in the budget. For a researcher the value is different.
