About Twikoo
Twikoo is an open-source commenting system for static websites, designed as a privacy-friendly and self-hostable alternative to third-party comment services. Built with JavaScript, it can be deployed on serverless platforms such as Tencent CloudBase, Vercel, and Railway, storing comments in a cloud database without requiring a traditional server.
Twikoo is particularly popular in the Chinese developer community and is widely used with static site generators such as Hexo, Hugo, and VitePress. It supports features including Markdown formatting, email notifications, spam filtering via Akismet, and admin moderation. Being open source and self-hosted, Twikoo gives site owners full control over their comment data.
