Filed under Web frameworks but written in Ruby, StimulusReflex sits on the seam between two ways of building for the web. The browser side is deliberately thin and the work happens on the server: a click travels over a socket, Ruby runs, and the changed fragment of the page comes back. The whole design exists so that a Rails codebase which already knows how to render pages does not need a second application written in front of it.

Because of that split, finding the library on a site says more about the backend than about the frontend. A site carrying it is running Rails, is willing to hold a persistent connection open for every active user, and has consciously declined to build a single page application. Architecture decisions of that kind come with budget, hiring and operational consequences attached, which makes the fingerprint more interesting to a commercial researcher than a small count would suggest.

As of October 2026 we detect it on 14 sites, and the figure has to be read against how little this style of library leaves behind. Server driven interfaces put less code in the page than client frameworks do, so detection leans on a small shim and a recognisable socket endpoint rather than on a large bundle announcing itself by name. Sites that rename the socket mount point, proxy it through their own path or compile the shim into a larger asset bundle drop out of the count without ever changing what they run.

MIT licensing and a first appearance in 2019 place the project in the wave of Rails tooling that arrived while the industry was still arguing about whether every interface needed a client framework. Adopting it was a position in that argument, and the position tends to persist, because teams that chose server rendered interactivity staffed accordingly.

That is the part a list can act on. Building a picture of Rails shops, the agencies that serve them and the companies whose front end hiring looks unusual is not something job ads or public repositories will give you, since neither reflects what is actually deployed. A per-domain lookup confirms the choice for a company already in your pipeline. A downloadable list of every domain carrying the fingerprint produces the companies you had not heard of, which is the version of the question that generates work. The trade is that the list is a floor rather than a census, and the installations it misses are often the ones customised enough to be worth a conversation.
