About Cecil
Cecil is an open-source static site generator built with PHP, designed to create fast, secure websites from Markdown content and Twig templates. It is developed and maintained as a community project, targeting developers who prefer PHP-based tooling for static site generation rather than JavaScript or Ruby alternatives.
Cecil supports Markdown content, YAML front matter, multilingual sites, and asset pipeline management. It is suitable for personal blogs, documentation sites, and small business websites where simplicity, performance, and PHP familiarity are priorities. Cecil is distributed via Composer and follows modern PHP development practices.
