About AdRiver
Ad serving code is the part of a page that exists purely because someone is being paid.
AdRiver is a technology in our Advertising category, offered by AdRiver under a Proprietary license. Our structured record for it is thin. We do not have a first release year, an implementation language or a country breakdown, and the one external detail we can stand behind is that the vendor publishes from a Russian domain. Rather than dress that up with detail we cannot verify, it is more useful to be precise about what a fingerprint of an ad platform does and does not prove.
Presence of an ad server tag means a publisher has a live relationship with that platform, or had one recently enough that nobody removed the tag. A tag is not evidence of revenue, of fill rate, or of how much inventory actually clears. Stale integrations are common on sites that changed monetisation partners and never cleaned the template, and a single page can carry several competing tags at once because publishers rarely commit to one supplier. Our figure counts the code we can see, which is a reasonable proxy for a commercial relationship and a poor proxy for the money moving through it.
As of September 2026 we detect the tag on 439 sites. A regional ad platform is worth studying as a set rather than one domain at a time, because the interesting question is which publishers share a monetisation stack, how that stack correlates with language and audience, and which other advertising services keep appearing alongside it. Media buyers use that shape to find inventory, competing platforms use it to find publishers worth approaching, and researchers use it to watch how regional advertising infrastructure diverges from the global one.
