About VerifyPass
Discount fraud is the problem this product was built around. A brand that wants to sell cheaper to teachers, students, serving military, veterans or first responders has to know that the shopper claiming the discount really belongs to that group, and it has to establish that without collecting identity documents itself. VerifyPass sits in the purchase flow as that gate, checking eligibility against documents or third party records and handing the store back a simple yes or no.
Because the check has to happen while the shopper is still on the page, part of VerifyPass runs in the browser, which is the only reason a technology crawl can see it at all. The rest of the service is a private exchange between the verification provider and the merchant's backend. As of October 2026 we record the browser side on 4 sites, and a figure that small deserves to be read as what it is, a count of storefronts where the widget was reachable by a crawler rather than a vendor customer list.
What a match tells you is commercial rather than technical. VerifyPass is Proprietary software bought by a retailer that has decided to run a gated discount programme, which implies margin to give away, a checkout it is free to modify, and an audience whose loyalty is worth paying for. Filing the product under Personalisation is accurate and still understates it, because the decision behind a deployment sits closer to marketing than to store plumbing.
For a researcher the useful question is not whether one named shop uses it, since a per domain lookup answers that in seconds. A downloadable list answers the population questions instead: how many eligibility gates are live across a market, which retail segments adopt them, which storefronts a competing verification vendor could approach, and how the set moves between one release of the data and the next.
Two limits deserve stating plainly. Detection is a fingerprint match on publicly reachable pages, so a deployment that loads only deep in a checkout, behind a login, or through a tag manager under some other name will be missed. Code on a page also proves the integration exists, not that the discount programme is still funded and running.
