About jPlayer
jPlayer is an open-source HTML5 audio and video player library built on jQuery that enables developers to embed media players into web pages. Created by Mark Panaghiston and hosted on GitHub, jPlayer provides a cross-browser compatible media playback solution with a customizable skinnable interface.
jPlayer was widely used during the era when HTML5 media support was inconsistent across browsers, offering a reliable fallback mechanism using Flash. It supports MP3, MP4, OGG, WebM, and other formats with features including playlists, poster images, and accessible controls. While newer native HTML5 players and frameworks have reduced its adoption, jPlayer remains in use on legacy websites and projects that built their media infrastructure around it.
