About Beeswax
A demand-side bidding platform has no obvious reason to appear on a website at all. Beeswax was built as bidder-as-a-service, meaning the customer is an advertiser or an agency that wants to run its own real-time bidding logic instead of renting someone else's, and that machinery lives in ad exchanges rather than in a page. When the name does turn up in a crawl, the cause is normally a tag the advertiser placed on its own site for retargeting or conversion measurement, which makes a match a statement about the site owner's ad operations rather than about the site's content.
The ownership line deserves care. The product carries the Beeswax brand while the vendor of record in our data is Comcast Advertising, the result of an acquisition, and a brand in that position tends to be folded into a parent platform's naming over time. Anyone tracking the technology across successive releases of the dataset should expect the label to move before the underlying code does.
The name is also ordinary English, shared with candle makers and cosmetics sellers, so a text search across a domain list would return mostly beekeeping. Our figure counts a fingerprint match rather than a mention of the word. As of August 2026 the number of hosts carrying that fingerprint stands at 1. The platform dates from 2014 and is Proprietary, so there is no open edition to self-host and no published client roster to compare against.
Two things keep a count like this conservative. Advertiser tags are increasingly delivered through tag managers and server-side containers, where the vendor's own signature is wrapped or stripped, and a match records an advertiser property rather than a campaign. A single brand can run an enormous amount of spend through one bidder from one domain, so the number describes adopters and says nothing about volume.
That distinction is what makes the list useful to a particular kind of researcher. Running your own bidder rather than buying a managed seat is a deliberate signal about how mature and how in-house an advertiser's programmatic operation is, so the set of matched hosts reads as a shortlist of companies with real ad engineering capacity. Competing platforms, measurement vendors, agencies pitching in-house transformation and analysts following consolidation in the Advertising category all want the same thing from it, which is the membership of that cohort. A per-domain lookup can confirm a domain you already suspected. Only an export produces the cohort itself, along with whatever else those hosts run, which is where the interesting patterns in ad infrastructure usually sit.
Frequently asked questions
How many websites use Beeswax?
webatla detects Beeswax on 1 website, refreshed daily, with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download the list of websites using Beeswax?
Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.
What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?
Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.
How do I find the websites using Beeswax?
Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using Beeswax, re-exported every day.
What else is in the Beeswax technology data?
Each row places Beeswax next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download just the sites using Beeswax, or the whole database?
Both. Every site running Beeswax comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.
How do I download the list of websites using Beeswax?
Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running Beeswax as a JSON Lines file. It is re-exported daily, so you can re-download the freshest list any time inside your access window. Each row carries the domain plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, hosting country and rank.
