WikkaWiki is a lightweight, open-source wiki engine written in PHP that uses a simple syntax for creating and linking wiki pages. It was forked from WakkaWiki and evolved to offer additional features including Access Control Lists (ACLs) for fine-grained page permissions, multiple output formats, and a plugin architecture.

WikkaWiki is suited for small teams, intranets, and personal knowledge management where a simple, self-hosted wiki is preferred over more complex solutions like MediaWiki. It stores content in a MySQL database and has a small but dedicated community. While not widely deployed at enterprise scale, it remains a functional choice for lightweight collaborative documentation.
