Movable Type is a professional blogging and content management platform developed by Six Apart, first released in 2001. It was among the first commercially successful blogging platforms and powered a significant share of major blogs and media websites during the early-to-mid 2000s before WordPress gained dominance.

Movable Type generates static HTML files rather than serving dynamic pages, which gives it performance and security advantages. It offers a robust templating system, multi-blog management, comment moderation, and extensive customization via plugins. While its market share has declined considerably, Movable Type remains in use by Japanese enterprises and media companies, where it continues to be actively developed and maintained by Infocom Corporation, which acquired the platform from Six Apart.
