JavaServer Pages (JSP) is a Java-based server-side technology that enables developers to embed Java code directly within HTML pages to create dynamic web content. When a JSP page is requested, the server compiles it into a Java servlet and executes it, returning the generated HTML to the client. JSP was introduced by Sun Microsystems as part of the Java EE platform.

First released in 1999, JSP was one of the dominant server-side web technologies of the early 2000s and is still found on many legacy enterprise applications. It is now maintained under the Eclipse Foundation as Jakarta Server Pages. JSP pages are commonly used in combination with Java servlets and frameworks such as Struts and Spring MVC, and are identifiable by the .jsp file extension frequently visible in website URLs.
