About Brownie
Nothing that runs only in a terminal should turn up in a crawl of the public web, which is the puzzle sitting in the middle of this row. A well known package called Brownie is a developer tool for compiling and testing smart contracts, and a tool of that kind never ships anything to a browser, so it cannot be what our fingerprint is matching on a live page.
The website recorded against this row resolves most of the confusion. Brownie Suite is a hosted commerce platform for building and running online storefronts, offered in several editions that range from a free entry level tier to a business to business edition and an enterprise setup with warehouse and point of sale software. A storefront is rendered in the visitor's browser, so a product of that shape leaves markers a crawler can read, which is the ordinary explanation for a count of live pages under this name. The site presents itself in Italian and in English, and the vendor behind it also runs a creative agency working with fashion and streetwear brands.
Our record still mixes two things. The MIT licence, the Python implementation and the first year of 2019 describe the command line tool rather than the storefront product, so the structured columns and the address in the same row do not point at a single piece of software. Name collisions are structural in technology detection rather than accidental. Short everyday words make appealing product names, several companies reach for the same one, and a fingerprint built from a script path or a markup pattern has no way of asking which company shipped it. Our catalogue also files the entry under CMS, the bucket used when nothing else fits, so the label carries no information in this case.
Treat the entry as a starting point that needs verification rather than as a finished answer. As of October 2026 the signature appears on 1 site, and the useful part of the download is the domain list itself, because a researcher can fetch a sample of those pages and confirm which product each match belongs to. A lookup service would hand back the same mixed label one domain at a time and offer no way to compare the matches against each other.
There is a commercial reading here too, and it runs in the negative. A row flagged this way should not be fed into a campaign list or a market sizing model until somebody has done that verification, and a dataset that quietly buried its uncertain rows would be worth less than one that marks them. The rest of our catalogue is built on the same principle, recording what was detected and stating the caveat wherever the detection cannot carry the weight a reader might put on it.
Frequently asked questions
How many websites use Brownie?
webatla detects Brownie on 1 website, refreshed daily, with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download the list of websites using Brownie?
Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.
What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?
Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.
How do I find the websites using Brownie?
Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using Brownie, re-exported every day.
What else is in the Brownie technology data?
Each row places Brownie next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download just the sites using Brownie, or the whole database?
Both. Every site running Brownie comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.
How do I download the list of websites using Brownie?
Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running Brownie as a JSON Lines file.
