Public Interest Registry does not guarantee its accuracy. Users accessing the Public Interest Registry RDAP service agree to use the data only for lawful purposes, and under no circumstances may this data be used to: a) allow, enable, or otherwise support the transmission by e-mail, telephone, or facsimile of mass unsolicited, commercial advertising or solicitations to entities other than the registrar's own existing customers and b) enable high volume, automated, electronic processes that send queries or data to the systems of Public Interest Registry or any ICANN-accredited registrar, except as reasonably necessary to register domain names or modify existing registrations. When using the Public Interest Registry RDAP service, please consider the following: the RDAP service is not a replacement for standard EPP commands to the SRS service. RDAP is not considered authoritative for registered domain objects. The RDAP service may be scheduled for downtime during production or OT&E maintenance periods. Queries to the RDAP services are throttled. If too many queries are received from a single IP address within a specified time, the service will begin to reject further queries for a period of time to prevent disruption of RDAP service access. Abuse of the RDAP system through data mining is mitigated by detecting and limiting bulk query access from single sources. Where applicable, the presence of a [Non-Public Data] tag indicates that such data is not made publicly available due to applicable data privacy laws or requirements. Should you wish to contact the registrant, please refer to the RDAP records available through the registrar URL listed above. Access to non-public data may be provided, upon request, where it can be reasonably confirmed that the requester holds a specific legitimate interest and a proper legal basis for accessing the withheld data. About Amber

Our own metadata disagrees with itself on this entry. The record classifies Amber as a Web frameworks while listing Crystal as its implementation language, and the reference site points at a web framework rather than at either. The disagreement is not a data-entry slip to be quietly corrected. The name has been used by several unrelated projects, and a technology fingerprint matches a pattern in a page, not a project's identity.

Naming a project after a common noun makes collisions inevitable. At least one templating engine, one full web framework and one browser-side language implementation have shipped under this name, in different ecosystems, with different authors and different purposes. A crawler that recognises a marker in served output has no way to arbitrate between them. The correct reading of our figure is that a matching signature was found, and vendor attribution needs confirming against the actual pages before anyone builds an argument on it.

The facts that survive the ambiguity are still worth stating. The entry is MIT licensed and dates to 2012, and no vendor is recorded, which is what a community-maintained open source project looks like in this dataset rather than a gap in our research. Software with a permissive licence and no company behind it spreads and persists differently from a commercial product. Nobody renews a contract, so nobody is prompted to reconsider, and a dependency can sit in a codebase for years after the project that produced it went quiet.

Persistence is the reason detection is difficult here rather than merely ambiguous. Template engines and server-side frameworks do their work before the response leaves the server, and clean output carries no signature at all. Whatever we match on is a residue, a default asset path, a generated comment, a characteristic file layout. Sites built with the same tooling but configured differently will not appear.

As of October 2026 the fingerprint appears on 1 site in our index. A researcher should treat a number of that size as a detectability limit rather than as a measure of adoption, because server-rendered tooling is systematically underrepresented in any dataset built from crawled pages, and we would rather say so than let the count carry weight it cannot hold.

What the download is good for, then, is the domain list itself. Getting every site where the signature appears, alongside country, top-level domain and the rest of each stack, lets you check the collision yourself on a sample and then use the remainder for whatever you were actually researching. A single-domain lookup gives you neither the sample nor the population.

Frequently asked questions

How many websites use Amber?

webatla detects Amber on 1 website, refreshed daily, with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.

Can I download the list of websites using Amber?

Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.

What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?

Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.

How do I find the websites using Amber?

Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using Amber, re-exported every day.

What else is in the Amber technology data?

Each row places Amber next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.

Can I download just the sites using Amber, or the whole database?

Both. Every site running Amber comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.

How do I download the list of websites using Amber?

Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running Amber as a JSON Lines file. It is re-exported daily, so you can re-download the freshest list any time inside your access window. Each row carries the domain plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, hosting country and rank.
