Programmatic advertising leaves a thick trail. A publisher who has decided to sell inventory through an auction rather than through a direct sales team ends up carrying a stack of Advertising tags, and 33Across is one that turns up inside that stack rather than on its own. Presence points at a site with enough inventory to make an auction worth running and enough operational appetite to manage demand partners.

The vendor is 33Across, licensing is Proprietary, and the company has been in the market since 2008, which places its founding in the period when publishers were first learning that unsold inventory could be auctioned in real time instead of discounted by hand. Longevity in advertising technology is itself information. Networks that survive a long stretch of consolidation usually did so by owning either a supply relationship or a piece of measurement, and either one implies contracts rather than casual sign ups.

The opposite error is undercounting. A per domain lookup cannot show that pattern, because the pattern only exists across thousands of sites at once.
