Über Hexo
Statische Website-Generatoren passen schlecht in einen Technologie-Datensatz, und wer den Grund dafür versteht, kann diese Seite richtig lesen. Hexo läuft auf dem Rechner eines Entwicklers oder in einer Build-Pipeline. Der Server, der eine Anfrage nach der fertigen Seite beantwortet, weiß nichts davon, denn im Browser kommt reines HTML an. Die Erkennung stützt sich stattdessen auf die Spuren, die der Generator hinterlässt, meist ein Generator-Tag im Head, eine vorhersehbare Anordnung der Assets oder Theme-Markup, das bei einer Standardinstallation mitgeliefert wird.
Diese Einschränkung prägt die Zahl. Stand Oktober 2026 verzeichnen wir Hexo auf 8.054 Websites, und zwar nur dort, wo die Build-Werkzeuge sichtbar geblieben sind. Ein Betreiber, der das Generator-Tag entfernt oder das Theme umschreibt, fällt vollständig aus der Liste. Die Zahl ist also eine Untergrenze und keine Schätzung. Wer den Markt für statische Websites modelliert, sollte Untererfassung als Normalzustand behandeln und nicht als gelegentlichen Fehler.
Das Tool Hexo erschien 2012 und ist in JavaScript geschrieben, womit es zu der Welle von Node.js-Build-Tools gehört, die auf die Ruby-Generatoren des vorangegangenen Jahrzehnts folgte. Die Software steht unter der Lizenz MIT, eine Installation bedeutet also weder einen Kauf noch eine Verlängerung noch ein Konto bei einem Anbieter. Eine mit dem Generator gebaute Website spiegelt die technische Entscheidung von jemandem wider, der sich an der Kommandozeile wohlfühlt, und keine Kundenbeziehung zu irgendwem. Kommerziell rückt das die Zielgruppe in ein anderes Licht. Diese Betreiber kaufen nicht den Generator, sondern alles, was eine statische Website allein nicht kann, von Formularen und Kommentaren bis zu Suche, Bild-Hosting und Deployment.
An den Versionsdaten beginnt die eigentliche Analyse. Wir verzeichnen 32 verschiedene Releases in den erkannten Installationen, am häufigsten taucht Version 7.3.0 auf. Eine Streuung dieser Größe bei einem Tool ohne automatischen Update-Pfad sagt etwas Bestimmtes über die Wartung aus. Eine statische Website meldet sich nie mit Hinweisen bei ihrem Besitzer, denn es gibt kein Dashboard und keinen Admin-Login, den man öffnen könnte.
