Invenio is an open source software framework for building large-scale digital repositories and digital libraries. It was originally developed at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in 2002, initially under the name CDSware, to run the CERN Document Server, and it is now maintained by CERN together with a community of research institutions. Invenio manages digital assets and research metadata using standards such as MARC21, Dublin Core, and DataCite, and it can be detected on websites and repository platforms that run on it, including Zenodo and various institutional repository systems.
