About Chatra
A live chat widget is a small piece of front end code with an unusually large commitment behind it. Someone has to answer it. A store that loads Chatra has decided a visitor with a question is worth a reply from a person, or at least an automation that somebody watches, and has accepted the staffing cost that comes with the decision. Detection of the widget is therefore closer to an operational signal than a technical one.
The product shapes who that signal describes. Chatra sells a shared team inbox with triggered messages, visitor context, offline capture and bot handling for repetitive questions, under a Proprietary license and on a per agent subscription, and has done so since 2015. The positioning is online retail and multichannel support messaging, past the plain contact form and pitched at businesses big and small. A site in our Live chat listings carrying this widget is usually a real trading business with a named person behind the chat, rather than an experiment.
Several kinds of reader want that population rather than a single domain. Competing chat and helpdesk vendors build migration lists from it. Agencies serving online stores use it to see which prospects already invest in support and which are still routing everything through email. Integration partners and analysts sizing the live chat category need a denominator that is not a vendor press release.
As of October 2026 we detect the widget on 271 sites, and the number deserves a caveat rather than a flourish. Widgets are frequently loaded through a tag manager, injected only for signed in visitors, or shown on business hours schedules, and a crawler arriving at the wrong moment sees an empty page. What we record is the presence of the loader on a publicly reachable page. Presence is not proof that the chat is staffed, and absence on one crawl is not proof that a store has no chat at all.
The reason to take the list rather than check domains individually is that the interesting questions are comparative. Which platforms do these stores run on, which countries and top level domains do they cluster in, which analytics and payment tools appear beside the chat widget, and which of them switched to something else since the last snapshot. Each of those is answerable from a full export with the rest of the detected stack attached to every domain, and none of them is answerable by typing addresses into a lookup box one at a time.
