À propos de Yandex.Cloud
Le lieu où une entreprise héberge ses services compte parmi les rares décisions techniques qui ont une portée juridique. Yandex.Cloud installe le calcul, le stockage et les bases de données managées dans des centres de données exploités en propre par Yandex, principalement situés en Russie et sur les marchés voisins, et pour une grande partie de la clientèle, cette localisation est la raison même du choix, et non un effet secondaire de celui-ci.
La plateforme est disponible pour tous depuis 2018, une date assez tardive pour que son adoption traduise une démarche délibérée plutôt qu’une infrastructure héritée d’une décennie antérieure. Une entreprise qui s’y est installée depuis a préféré un fournisseur régional aux hyperscalers mondiaux, généralement en raison d’obligations de localisation des données, d’une facturation en monnaie locale, de règles d’approvisionnement ou tout simplement de la proximité avec ses utilisateurs. Une empreinte d’hébergement de ce type a donc davantage de sens que n’en aurait la même empreinte chez un fournisseur géographiquement neutre, où le choix ne dit pas grand-chose au-delà du prix.
