Open Graph est un protocole développé par Facebook (aujourd’hui Meta) qui permet aux pages web de devenir des objets riches au sein des réseaux sociaux. En intégrant des balises meta Open Graph dans le HTML, les propriétaires de sites contrôlent l’apparence de leur contenu lorsqu’il est partagé sur les plateformes sociales : ils peuvent définir le titre, la description, l’image et le type de la page partagée.

Présenté pour la première fois en 2010 lors de la conférence pour développeurs F8 de Facebook, Open Graph est aujourd’hui largement adopté par la quasi-totalité des grands réseaux sociaux et applications de messagerie. Il est devenu une norme web de facto pour les métadonnées de partage social. Les sites qui implémentent les balises Open Graph constatent un meilleur engagement et de meilleurs taux de clics lorsque leur contenu est partagé, ce qui en fait un élément essentiel du référencement moderne et de la stratégie sur les réseaux sociaux.
