Typecho is a lightweight, open-source blogging and content management platform written in PHP. Developed by a Chinese open-source community and first released in 2008, it is particularly popular in China as a minimalist alternative to WordPress, focusing on speed, simplicity, and ease of self-hosting.

Typecho follows a plugin and theme architecture similar to WordPress but with a much smaller codebase, making it fast to deploy on basic shared hosting.
