About Fing
A short product name attracts more than one owner, and the record we hold under this one shows the strain. The vendor field names NortonLifeLock Inc. and the licence is recorded as Proprietary, with the product line dated to 2009, while the website stored alongside them sits under Iran's country-code domain. Nothing in that combination describes a single coherent product, and the sensible conclusion is the plain one: the name is shared by more than one thing, and our count is a fingerprint match on a signature rather than proof that a particular company's software is installed anywhere.
Saying so is more useful than papering over it. Name collisions are the dominant error mode in the long tail of any technology index, because a signature is ultimately a string found in a page and strings are not unique. A tidy vendor rollup would bury that problem under a confident label and produce a number nobody can audit. Publishing the raw match keeps the ambiguity where a researcher can see it and act on it.
As of October 2026 the signature appears on 2 sites, filed under PaaS. At that size the row is a lead to verify rather than a customer list to sell from. Anyone who needs certainty about a specific site should treat a match as a prompt to open the page, and anyone building analysis on top of the index should carry the caveat forward instead of folding this row into a vendor total that would then look authoritative.
The wider point matters to anyone evaluating whether this dataset answers their question. Head technologies with distinctive fingerprints are easy, and every index gets them right. The tail is where detection quality is actually decided, and the tail is also where the commercially interesting questions live, because a niche tool with a handful of deployments defines a niche market that nobody else has bothered to measure. What a full export offers over a per-domain lookup is the ability to see the whole matched set at once, notice where rows contradict each other, and decide which matches to trust before anything gets built on top of them.
Frequently asked questions
How many websites use Fing?
webatla detects Fing on 2 websites, refreshed daily, each with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download the list of websites using Fing?
Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.
What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?
Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.
How do I find the websites using Fing?
Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using Fing, re-exported every day.
What else is in the Fing technology data?
Each row places Fing next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download just the sites using Fing, or the whole database?
Both. Every site running Fing comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.
How do I download the list of websites using Fing?
Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running Fing as a JSON Lines file. It is re-exported daily, so you can re-download the freshest list any time inside your access window. Each row carries the domain plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, hosting country and rank.
