Nada no token afeta um visitante, e removê-lo não mudaria nada na página.

A presença diz, por isso, algo mais restrito e mais útil do que a maioria das deteções. Alguém com acesso de edição ao sítio percorreu um processo de adesão numa plataforma comercial de pesquisa e levou-o até ao fim, o que significa que o domínio foi reclamado, rastreado, auditado e monitorizado por uma pessoa que se preocupa com o desempenho nos resultados de pesquisa. Em outubro de 2026 encontramos o marcador em 111 290 sites. Só nos Estados Unidos a contagem chega a 72 908, e os registos concentram-se na zona .com.

Alguns limites importam antes de alguém tratar esta população como uma carteira de clientes. A verificação pode ser concluída através de um registo DNS em vez de uma etiqueta HTML, e uma prova por DNS é invisível para um rastreador que lê páginas, por isso o que conseguimos ver é um subconjunto das contas que existem. Os proprietários também deixam a etiqueta no lugar muito depois da auditoria que a motivou, o que puxa no sentido contrário e mantém reclamações adormecidas nos dados. O que o marcador estabelece de forma fiável é que o domínio foi ligado a uma plataforma externa de pesquisa por alguém com acesso de escrita ao sítio.
