Django est un framework web open source de haut niveau, écrit en Python, qui encourage un développement rapide et un design propre et pragmatique. Il suit le modèle architectural MTV (model-template-views) et inclut un ensemble riche de fonctionnalités natives : ORM, système d’authentification, interface d’administration et routage d’URL.
Créé par Adrian Holovaty et Simon Willison au journal Lawrence Journal-World, et publié en 2005, Django est maintenu par la Django Software Foundation. Il fait tourner des sites à fort trafic comme Instagram, Pinterest, Disqus, ainsi que de nombreux sites gouvernementaux et médiatiques. Django met l’accent sur le principe DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself), les bonnes pratiques de sécurité et la productivité des développeurs, ce qui en fait l’un des frameworks web les plus adoptés de l’écosystème Python.
