Über Flickity
Ein Karussell ist eine gestalterische Entscheidung, bevor es eine technische ist, und welches Karussell eine Website nutzt, verrät etwas darüber, wie sie gebaut wurde. Flickity ist eine JavaScript-Bibliothek des Anbieters Metafizzy, seit 2015 unter der Lizenz MIT verfügbar und auf touchfreundliche Slider mit physikbasierter Bewegung und Einrastpunkten ausgelegt. Auf eine Website gelangt Flickity nie automatisch. Jemand hat die Bibliothek ausgewählt, in ein Template eingebunden und die Optionen konfiguriert, was bedeutet, dass eine Website mit dieser Bibliothek von Hand oder von einem Studio gebaut wurde und nicht in einem gehosteten Baukasten entstand, der seinen eigenen Slider mitbringt.
Der Bestand, der sich daraus ergibt, ist entsprechend spezifisch. Stand Oktober 2026 erkennen wir die Bibliothek auf 17.757 Websites. 5.702 davon sind in den USA registriert. Bei den Adressen liegt der Schwerpunkt auf der Endung .com. Ein minifiziertes Anwendungs-Bundle, in das die Bibliothek eingearbeitet ist, kann sie vollständig verbergen, und solche Websites fehlen dann in unserer Zählung. Eine Seite kann die Datei außerdem noch lange ausliefern, nachdem das Karussell aus dem Design entfernt wurde. Fehler gibt es also auf beiden Seiten, und keiner davon fällt auf den gesamten Bestand gesehen stark ins Gewicht. Eine so erstellte Liste beschreibt aber beobachtbare Belege und keine Absicht, und eine einzelne Domain sollte man prüfen, bevor man auf dieser Grundlage handelt.
