About Percussion

Content systems sold to universities, hospitals and public bodies do not get replaced when they go out of fashion. Percussion comes from the era of Java enterprise publishing, from a vendor whose product line dates to 2000, and an install of that vintage still answering requests today has survived several rounds of budget review, the supplier stepping away from the product altogether, and probably a generation of staff turnover in the web team.

As of October 2026 we detect Percussion on 1 site, and the figure says less about the vendor's history than about what a fingerprint can still recognize. Long-lived deployments drift. Templates get rewritten, markup gets replaced, and the telltale asset paths of the original product get proxied behind a CDN or stripped out by a redesign. Detection of an older CMS favors the installs left close to their default shape and misses the ones that were customized hard, and heavy customization is the norm in this part of the market.

The name deserves a caution of its own. Percussion is an ordinary English word, so any search for the term returns a great deal that has nothing to do with web publishing, and the same string appears in unrelated product catalogs. Our fingerprint matches the content system from Percussion Software and nothing else, so the count above is the number of sites where that one specific match fired, not a tally of everything sharing a name. Our record also carries a licence of Apache 2.0, which the vendor's own site no longer bears out: the web content management line has moved to an open source fulfilment model, the vendor has stopped issuing updates, support and maintenance for it, and buyers who want commercial support are pointed at a separate company.

The commercial value in a list like this one is migration. Every site running an aging enterprise content system has a replatforming project somewhere in its future and an owner who already knows it, which is why integrators, competing vendors and managed hosting companies watch precisely these detections. A per-domain lookup confirms a single prospect. A full export gives you the cohort, the domains behind it, and a date on every row, so a fresh install can be told apart from one that has been sitting untouched since long before anybody started looking. For an institution buyer with a procurement cycle measured in years, knowing the incumbent is worth more than knowing the traffic.

Frequently asked questions

How many websites use Percussion?

webatla detects Percussion on 1 website, refreshed daily, with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.

Can I download the list of websites using Percussion?

Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.

What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?

Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.

How do I find the websites using Percussion?

Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using Percussion, re-exported every day.

What else is in the Percussion technology data?

Each row places Percussion next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.

Can I download just the sites using Percussion, or the whole database?

Both. Every site running Percussion comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.

How do I download the list of websites using Percussion?

Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running Percussion as a JSON Lines file. It is re-exported daily, so you can re-download the freshest list any time inside your access window. Each row carries the domain plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, hosting country and rank.
