About libwww-perl-daemon
When a server identifies itself by the name of a Perl module rather than by the name of a web server product, the machine answering is usually not a website in the ordinary sense. libwww-perl-daemon is the fingerprint for hosts replying with the banner of the HTTP daemon class that ships with the libwww-perl family, a building block for opening a socket and speaking the protocol from inside an ordinary Perl program.
The class exists so that a script can serve something without a real server behind it. Test harnesses, appliance control panels, print and job queues, internal dashboards and long-lived automation all reach for it, because the alternative is installing and configuring a full server for a job that needs a handful of routes. The code is Open Source and distributed through the Perl module archive rather than as a packaged product, which is why our record carries no vendor, no release cadence and no licensing contact for it.
As of October 2026 the banner appears on 2 sites in our Web servers data. A count that small is the interesting part rather than a disappointment, because anything on the public internet answering this way was very often not meant to be reachable from the public internet at all. Forgotten staging rigs, exposed device interfaces and automation endpoints that were bound to the wrong address are the recurring shapes. Security researchers looking for accidental exposure, and asset inventory teams trying to enumerate what an organisation actually has listening, are the readers this row serves.
Detection here rests entirely on what a host chooses to say about itself. A reverse proxy in front of the script, a content delivery network, or a single line of configuration will rewrite or suppress the banner, and the Perl process behind it becomes invisible to us. Our figure should be read as the set of hosts that both use the module and announce it, never as a census of where the module is deployed. Anything sitting behind a normal production edge is missing by construction.
A per-domain check tells you what one host answered with today, which is useful if you already have a suspect. The downloadable list is the only practical way to ask the population version of the same question, which is where else on the internet a bare Perl script is the thing answering the door.

webatla detects libwww-perl-daemon on 2 websites, refreshed daily, each with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download the list of websites using libwww-perl-daemon?
Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.
What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?
Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.
How do I find the websites using libwww-perl-daemon?
Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using libwww-perl-daemon, re-exported every day.
What else is in the libwww-perl-daemon technology data?
Each row places libwww-perl-daemon next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download just the sites using libwww-perl-daemon, or the whole database?
Both. Every site running libwww-perl-daemon comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.
How do I download the list of websites using libwww-perl-daemon?
Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running libwww-perl-daemon as a JSON Lines file. It is re-exported daily, so you can re-download the freshest list any time inside your access window. Each row carries the domain plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, hosting country and rank.
