The data in this record is provided by Identity Digital or the Registry Operator for informational purposes only, and accuracy is not guaranteed. This service is intended only for query-based access. You agree that you will use this data only for lawful purposes and that, under no circumstances will you use this data to (a) allow, enable, or otherwise support the transmission by e-mail, telephone, or facsimile of mass unsolicited, commercial advertising or solicitations to entities other than the data recipient's own existing customers; or (b) enable high volume, automated, electronic processes that send queries or data to the systems of Registry Operator, a Registrar, or Identity Digital except as reasonably necessary to register domain names or modify existing registrations. When using the Whois service, please consider the following: The Whois service is not a replacement for standard EPP commands to the SRS service. Whois is not considered authoritative for registered domain objects. The Whois service may be scheduled for downtime during production or OT&E maintenance periods. Queries to the Whois services are throttled. If too many queries are received from a single IP address within a specified time, the service will begin to reject further queries for a period of time to prevent disruption of Whois service access. Abuse of the Whois system through data mining is mitigated by detecting and limiting bulk query access from single sources. Where applicable, the presence of a [Non-Public Data] tag indicates that such data is not made publicly available due to applicable data privacy laws or requirements. Should you wish to contact the registrant, please refer to the Whois records available through the registrar URL listed above. Access to non-public data may be provided, upon request, where it can be reasonably confirmed that the requester holds a specific legitimate interest and a proper legal basis for accessing the withheld data. Access to this data provided by Identity Digital can be requested by submitting a request via the form found at https://www.identity.digital/about/policies/whois-layered-access/. The Registrar of Record identified in this output may have an RDDS service that can be queried for additional information on how to contact the Registrant, Admin, or Tech contact of the queried domain name. Identity Digital Inc. and Registry Operator reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. By submitting this query, you agree to abide by this policy."} | Domain is active |

About Chicago Boss
Erlang came out of telephone switching, where processes crash constantly and the system is not permitted to notice, and for a while several people tried to carry that reliability model into ordinary web development. Chicago Boss was one of those attempts. Written in Erlang, released under the MIT license by Evan Miller, with a first public version in 2010, it took the shape of the frameworks web developers already knew: model view controller, Django style templates, URL routing, an object mapper spanning several databases, sessions, mail and internationalisation, plus fully asynchronous network handling that made long lived connections cheap rather than exotic.
Adopting a framework like that said more about the team than about the site. Nobody arrives at an Erlang web framework by browsing beginner tutorials. A team already had operators comfortable with the runtime, or a product whose concurrency requirements made the runtime worth the hiring problem, and putting a familiar shaped layer on top was a way of making that choice survivable for the developers who had to work inside it. The audience this framework was aimed at largely moved to Elixir and its own web framework, which offered the same runtime with a friendlier surface, so the deployments that remain tend to be older systems looked after by the people who built them.
Back end frameworks are a hard class of technology to detect, and being honest about that matters more than any figure attached to it. A server side framework is visible only when it advertises itself: a response header, a cookie name, a session format, a default error page, a URL convention. A reverse proxy, a delivery network or a tightened header policy can remove every one of those without a line of application code changing. As of October 2026 our count for this fingerprint stands at 1, and the correct reading is sites that still leak an identifiable signature, rather than sites running the framework.
The detection gap is exactly why a compiled list beats guessing. A per domain lookup confirms a hunch about one host. A list of every domain where the signature survives is a roster of long running installations on this runtime, which is what you want if you sell maintenance for it, if you study how framework populations age and disappear, or if you are looking for systems whose owners have a migration problem they have not scheduled yet.
Frequently asked questions
How many websites use Chicago Boss?
webatla detects Chicago Boss on 1 website, refreshed daily, with its domain, DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download the list of websites using Chicago Boss?
Yes, as structured JSONL. Grab a free sample first.
What's included for each site, and how fresh is it?
Domain, DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, the full technology stack, IP & country, PageRank and Harmonic, re-detected and re-exported daily.
How do I find the websites using Chicago Boss?
Buy the technology dataset, then download the complete list of domains we detect using Chicago Boss, re-exported every day.
What else is in the Chicago Boss technology data?
Each row places Chicago Boss next to the other technology on the same site, plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, country and ranking.
Can I download just the sites using Chicago Boss, or the whole database?
Both. Every site running Chicago Boss comes in the Technologies dataset, one downloadable file. Or buy All data for the entire database: technologies plus identity, ranking, DNS and RDAP/WHOIS for every domain, combined in one file. Daily fresh export.
How do I download the list of websites using Chicago Boss?
Three steps: (1) grab the free 10,000-row sample to inspect the schema, (2) buy the Technologies dataset, (3) download the full list of every domain we detect running Chicago Boss as a JSON Lines file. It is re-exported daily, so you can re-download the freshest list any time inside your access window. Each row carries the domain plus DNS, WHOIS, IP, hosting country and rank.
