Nobody installs an enterprise content platform on a Friday afternoon. Procurement runs for months, an archive of images and copy has to be migrated in, editorial staff have to be retrained, and the integration work reaches into product data, translation workflow and print output. A purchase on that scale is closer to an ERP decision than a software subscription, and platforms bought that way turn over slowly, which is why a single detection can represent a relationship running for a decade or more.

Censhare has been sold by Censhare AG since 2001 under a Proprietary license, which places its origins before the hosted content management market existed in anything like its present form. A platform of that vintage is normally found where content is a manufacturing process rather than a marketing task, at publishers, catalogue retailers and multinational brands running many languages and many channels out of one repository. A detection therefore implies an organisation with a content operation large enough to justify the machinery, along with the internal staff or the integrator relationship needed to keep it running.

Detection is also the weak point here, and the weakness runs in one direction. Enterprise content systems increasingly sit upstream of the public site, feeding a delivery layer, a static build or a mobile application rather than serving pages themselves, and an upstream system leaves no fingerprint on the page a crawler reads. Sites that do expose a marker are the ones still rendering directly from the platform, which is a subset of a subset, and the entry should be read as a set of confirmed sightings rather than as a census of licensees.

Counts in the enterprise tier are small and always will be, because only so many organisations have the budget and the content volume to need this class of product at all. The total is not where the value sits. The value is which specific domains appear, since each one stands for a large, long-lived and expensive deployment with a procurement history behind it and a replacement decision somewhere ahead of it.

System integrators, competing platform vendors and the agencies that run migrations all work from lists of exactly this shape, and none of them can assemble one through a per-domain lookup, which only answers questions about sites they have already thought of. Finding the deployments you do not know about requires the inverse, and the inverse only exists as a download.
